Night Classes [April Daily Poem – Day 11]

Prompt: Metanoia

CW: Gore, Body Horror

“Become a new you,” the advert said
A phrase that got stuck in my head
So I signed up for the course
To learn the trick from the source

I turned up at the community center Tuesday night
Hoping that the changes promised were right
But to my surprise, things took a turn
One that made my stomach churn

The instructor dropped a dead horse on the table
And told us that transformation was a fable
If you want to become a brand new you
Attach fresh parts with nail or screw

She was the expert, or at least I presumed
So I did the thing that she assumed
I grabbed a hoof and started to snip
Attached it to my back with a zip

Every week a new surprise
Another body dropped before our eyes
Across the corpse, our eyes would skim
Before we picked a brand-new limb

After four weeks, I was totally new
I finally made my awaited breakthrough
Fifty limbs and a hundred more futures
All because of a million sutures
