Light The Dark [April Daily Poem – Day 12]

Prompt: Doomfire

Chrips and bleeps fill the room
As consciousness comes into bloom
I flop and shake and roll around
Trying to stop the harsh shrill sound

In the haze, I feel the brick
Clumsily grab it and give it a flick
Miss on attempts one, two, and three
As it screams like an angry banshee

I stumble and wiggle, summoning my grit
Wanting to make the shrill noise quit
I consider throwing it at the wall
But realize that would be my downfall

Finally, I get it to unlock
But let out a scream of pain and shock

If you don’t want your eyes to explode
Make sure your phone isn’t in bright mode
