Lady Of The Lake [April Daily Poem – Day 6]

Prompt: Thalweg

I hate being bound by strings of fate
As heroes are always running late
Thus I’m stuck in this fucking lake
Waiting for a knight who is not a flake

This wet sword is their final prize
If they’d only think and realize
But no, whenever I thrust it out
They run away with a childish shout

Don’t they get that I can’t go home
Until they take this lump of chrome
So every day I float and wait
For another pretentious fool clad in plate

My sisters got the better gigs
One even receives free wine and figs
While I’m covered in barnacles and silt
Clinging to this long-rusty hilt

So if you’re a knight who is passing through
I hope you know what you must do
Come and take this fucking sword
As I’m well and truly bored
