The Lips Of The Fay [30 Days Of Poetry – Day 7]

Prompt: Voice

If the lips do flap and no sound is heard
The fay have come to cull the herd
Said the myth told by the mothers
Meant to scare children and the others

So for years we watched and waited
For the day that was fated
When the evil fay would rise
With hate and fire in their eyes

The image of the silent mouth
Was constantly told from north to south
Many warnings were uttered
And soft prayers were muttered

And the concept did reach through time
Being told through text, image, and rhyme
And all of the hidden fears grew
Every generation myths began anew

But now in our modern-day
The fear of the fay has gone away
Because when we see silent lips as reputed
We just say “Sorry Dave, your mic is muted”
