Prompt: Sorrow
Sorrow is a terrible name for a cat
It doesn’t work for a dog, ferret, or even a bat
You try to call them as it’s time for a snack
But you get swarmed by goths all dressed in black
They tell you they feel your symphonic pain
And the bank of fog that’s filling your brain
You appreciate their words but to your chagrin
They refuse to eat the tuna you removed from the tin
On top of this, goths, even if not stray
Are not trained to use the big litter tray
So scream Sorrow out into the sky
And hope that your kitty is strolling by
But then you’ll find that people worry
So your lungs then start to hurry
You shout Sorrow until it becomes a bleat
Until the words blur together and form a hot beat
Thankfully this beat will get rid of a lingering goth
For they will leave with an unhappy scoff
Alas, it won’t attract the kitty you’re calling
In fact, it is rather quite galling
But you know that the second you turn your back.
You’ll find a tuna-covered Sorrow asleep on the mat.
