Prompt: Magic
Luna, the magician, was having a rough time
No bookings for months and not earning a dime
Despite her skill with her wand and card
Finding new work was getting increasingly hard
Until one day a letter came through her door
Promising her a job with perks galore
She didn’t wait and quickly replied
And later she walked to her new job with pride
However, she quickly found that she had misunderstood
They didn’t want a magician in a hood
They wanted a mage, powerful and strong
Who could fight the darkness and right the wrong
But Luna needed the money and thus agreed
To the position of warrior’s mage, she did accede
She and her party quickly headed to the west
And climbed the mountain called Dragon’s Crest
After a trip of many hard weeks
Luna and her friends had crested the peaks
They stood before the castle dark and cold
The air hung heavy with the stench of mold
The group ventured through the heavy doors
and made their way through the many floors
Soon they reached the Demon King on his throne
As he growled at them in an unearthly tone
“Quick, cast the spell and make this right!”
Shouted the group’s leader, a mighty knight
Luna looked left and right and blushed bright red
As the butterflies in her tummy turned to dread
She pulled off her hat and quickly spun around
Then she reached inside without a sound
She did a trick so avant-garde
She pulled out a deck and shouted. “Is this your card?”
The Demon King shook his head and let out a growl
“You will pay for a joke this foul!”
Thankfully all was not lost
As out of the hat, a rabbit was tossed
This rabbit was mean and fed up with it all
And it engaged the Demon King in a brawl
The King was strong, but the bunny was quick
And could kick with the force of a well-aimed brick
When the Demon King fell, the bunny did smile
And then hopped off down the aisle
The group cheered and carried Luna back to town
Where she was gifted a silver crown
But Luna learned an important lesson that day
No matter how desperate you are for the pay
If you don’t want to suffer from grief
