Hush, Don’t Wake The Vakersnack [30 Days Of Poetry – Day 2]

Prompt: Quiet

Hush, don’t wake the Vakersnack
Else its eyes will dart
and its jaws will snap
Hush, don’t wake the Vakersnack
or your steps will doom us all

It sits deep in the shadowed hall
Where we can make no sounds at all
Else it will open its almighty maw
On your bones, it will bite and gnaw

Hush, don’t wake the Vakersnack
Don’t tap or tremble, pant or shake
Else we’ll all suffer when it’s awake
Hush, don’t wake the Vakersnack
This is our only rule

Hold out hope inside your soul
Else the beast will eat us whole
Swallow you down in just one gulp
Fangs to mash our bones to pulp

Hush, don’t wake the Vakersnack
It’s my only plea
I hope that you can see
Hush, don’t wake the Vakersnack
For the sake of our family
