Prompt: Close

It is close to my heart I tell my friends
But their reaction depends on the lens
If I say it’s my favorite food from the sea
They’ll all applaud with unbridled glee

But if I say its an arrowhead
Their faces will be filled with dread
They’ll instantly rush to my aid
To remove the quite harmful blade

It is strange then, that close to the heart
Can refer to both the most beautiful art
But it may also mean, by chance
The world’s most dire circumstance

Poets will say that the heart is both strong and weak
That it can hold the light and the bleak
However, I disagree with this guess
I just think English is an utter mess.
