I’m Worried About Fireflies [30 Days Of Poetry – Day 23]

Prompt: Light

Let’s be thankful for the firefly
Dancing happily high in the sky
They create pretty orange starlight
With their graceful, perfect flight

But we should also be happy about other things
Because they don’t unify their wings
That thought should give us pause
Due to the horror, they could cause

As if the fireflies could all work as one
They could do things to shock and stun
Because in a moment, they could flap their wings
And use their butts to spell out rude things

We would scream out, “oh the humanity”
As they filled the sky with harsh profanity
Can you imagine what we would go through
If fireflies could write “Fuck you!”
