Prompt: Joy

Nothing nicer than a slice of cake
It is a joy you simply cannot fake
From chocolate to lemon and even strawberry
they’re guaranteed to make you merry

But after a while, you’ll start to tire
of every cake you do aquire
“They’re all the same,” you’ll cry and moan
So you look for new recipes on your phone

You find nothing but more of the same
Not one single cake sets your passions aflame
So you dig deeper into the net
And eventually, find a site you won’t forget

It tells you of a cake that is forbidden
It has had its special recipe hidden
In secret chests and vaults galore
Magically sealed by the wizards of yore

But you gather up all you need
From the eye of newt to blooden weed
Maiden tears so fresh and new
And a big pot of rat hair stew

You mix, stir, and constantly chant
And many spells you do recant
As you mix the batter to make the cake
and top it with the venom from a snake

After baking, it looks nice
So you decide to cut a slice
Shadows and ink ooze from inside
You hear the wail of a spectral bride

The world falls into an abyss of darkness
And reality is destroyed by its starkness
But you’d totally do it again
The cake was lovely, ten out of ten.
