Waiting For A Train [30 Days Of Poetry- Day 13]

Prompt: Distance

I’ve got to travel again today
Just need to wait to get on my way
Stood on the platform biding time
Waiting for the train to come down the line.

And we wait

After an hour, I look down the line
I see nothing, not even a sign

And we wait
And we wait

Suddenly I hear a click-clack
Is something coming down the track?

And we wait
And we wait
And we wait

Nothing but a gentle breeze
And the rattle of someone’s keys.
Not a train to be seen
The horizon is totally clean

And we wait
And we wait
And we wait
And we wait

Suddenly a voice comes from above
It asks us not to push or shove
There will be no trains today
They’re canceled until Thursday

After a day of travel, I can tweet
Distance moved. Zero feet
