Ode To The Bag Of Potatoes I Bought On Thursday [30 Days Of Poetry – Day 12]

Prompt: Rot

Dear Mr. Potato, what do you want me to do
I bought you on Thursday, and you’re already goo
I keep you cool, dry, and dark
Do I need to build you an ark?

I just want some mash later in the week
But you’ve turned into a fetid creek
Half the bag has turned to mush
Almost like you’re in a rush

I understand your desire to speedrun decay
But I really shouldn’t have to pray
For potatoes that last one full week
My desire isn’t really that unique

Please stop becoming a Petri dish
I just want a potato that doesn’t go squish
I’ll perform a dark ritual if needs be
Just please let me have spuds for tea.
